O período de defeso na Bacia Hidrográfica dos Rios Tocantins e Gurupi – em estados como Maranhão e Pará – termina no dia 28 de fevereiro de 2025. Com isso, a partir desta data, a atividade de pesca volta a ser permitida nessa área. Vale destacar que, mesmo assim, os pescadores que atuam tanto profissionalmente, como de forma esportiva, devem ficar atentos à legislação ambiental vigente em cada área abrangida pela Bacia Hidrográfica.
O período em que a atividade pesqueira conta com restrição é essencial para preservar a reprodução de determinadas espécies de peixes, que, normalmente, ocorre na época conhecida como piracema – período em que os peixes se deslocam para chegar a locais adequados para se reproduzir. É o que explica o chefe do Núcleo de Fiscalização da Atividade Pesqueira do Ibama, Igor de Brito Silva.
“Os defesos, os quais incluem as piracemas, referem-se aos períodos de reprodução de espécies ou de grupos de espécies e são medida de gestão sustentável da atividade pesqueira que visa promover a recuperação das populações dessas espécies. Geralmente, trata-se de espécies com grande demanda comercial e por isso há necessidade de promover o equilíbrio das populações por meio dessa interrupção da pesca”, destaca.
No Pará, por exemplo, o Ibama realizou, no último dia 4 de fevereiro, uma operação para fiscalizar empresas que exercem atividades pesqueiras em Icoaraci, distrito de Belém. Na ação, foram apreendidas 31 toneladas de peixes de várias espécies e 100 quilos de camarão rosa. As empresas foram multadas em pelo menos R$ 683 mil.
Seguro Defeso
Durante o período de defeso, profissionais da atividade pesqueira com documentação regular podem solicitar o Seguro Defeso. Trata-se de um benefício para quem sobrevive da pesca profissional artesanal. Os recursos são oferecidos durante o período em que a pesca não pode ser realizada, em função da piracema. O pedido pode ser feito pela internet, clicando aqui.
Quem tem direito ao seguro defeso?
Para ter direito ao benefício, o interessado precisa depender exclusivamente da pesca como principal fonte de renda. Também deve estar registrado no Ministério da Pesca há pelo menos um ano. Além disso, é preciso ter contribuído para a previdência com base na venda dos produtos pescados ao longo do ano, fora do período de defeso.
FPM: como municípios devem gastar recursos?
É importante destacar que não é permitido receber o Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC) ou outros benefícios previdenciários, exceto auxílio-acidente e pensão por morte, limitada a um salário-mínimo.
