Desde 2023, o Ministério das Comunicações já destinou 398 computadores a comunidades indígenas em todo o país por meio do programa “Computadores para Inclusão”. O número representa um crescimento de 174% em relação ao total entregue entre os anos de 2019 e 2022.
Outro destaque é a criação de 40 novos Pontos de Inclusão Digital (PIDs) voltados especificamente para povos indígenas, o que representa um aumento de 300% no mesmo comparativo.
Segundo Gustavo Fernandes, coordenador-geral de inclusão digital do Ministério das Comunicações, incluir cada vez mais pessoas no mundo digital se tornou uma necessidade básica:
“Quando a gente levanta essa bola do problema da exclusão digital na população, a gente consegue perceber com muito mais tranquilidade o quanto ela é transformadora. Então quando a gente fala de direitos, de acessos, inclusão digital hoje não se torna mais um luxo. Ela é uma necessidade básica, é algo diário, da convivência, é acesso à cidadania, é política educacional, é política de saúde, é um momento de afeto quando você consegue ver e visitar uma pessoa distante a poucos minutos, então é muito completo. Não é mais só sobre educação e serviços, é sobre a vida”.
As ações reforçam o compromisso do Governo Federal com políticas públicas que valorizem a diversidade, garantam direitos e promovam o protagonismo dos povos indígenas no processo de transformação digital do país. O Ministério das Comunicações atua com foco em garantir acesso significativo à conectividade, respeitando as especificidades culturais e territoriais dessas comunidades.
A mais recente entrega de computadores ocorreu durante o Acampamento Terra Livre (ATL), maior mobilização nacional indígena, realizada anualmente em Brasília. Na ocasião, foram doados 15 notebooks ao Coletivo Juventude Indígena da Diversidade.
