Segundo a última atualização do Ministério da Saúde, 29 casos de intoxicação por metanol associados ao consumo de bebidas alcoólicas adulteradas foram confirmados até o momento. Cinco óbitos foram notificados — todos no estado de São Paulo — e outros 12 estão sob investigação.
Além disso, há 217 notificações em investigação e 249 casos suspeitos já descartados. Os estados com casos confirmados são São Paulo, Paraná e Rio Grande do Sul.
O Ministério da Saúde enviou nota técnica atualizada aos estados e municípios com diretrizes para atendimento, diagnóstico e notificação de casos suspeitos.
Dentre os principais pontos da nota técnica, estão:
- A confirmação de caso passa a considerar três eixos: histórico de ingestão de bebida alcoólica, quadro clínico compatível e achados laboratoriais condizentes;
- Para casos suspeitos, deverá ser considerado o período entre 6 e 72 horas após ingestão, verificando sintomas;
- Os estados devem definir laboratórios responsáveis para análise (preferencialmente os CIATox ou institutos de polícia científica);
- Nos casos em que não haja estrutura local, amostras devem ser encaminhadas ao Laboratório Central de Saúde Pública (LACEN) e posteriormente ao CIATox de Campinas;
- A notificação imediata de casos suspeitos e confirmados ao CIEVS estadual é mandatória; estes, por sua vez, devem informar o CIEVS nacional;
- Uso do etanol farmacêutico como antídoto.
A situação é considerada atípica, dado que o Brasil costuma registrar cerca de vinte casos de intoxicação por metanol ao longo do ano.
